H DAAB DESIGN BEARS

Hannelore has won many awards for her work including the Golden George in 2000, 2003 and 2004 and The Toby Industry's Choice Award in 2002, 2003 & 2004 with many nominations and placements 2005, 2006 and 2007. 

I can only tell you how exquisite these bears are in the fur - I realise that looking at photographs is never the same as being able to hold the bear but they are just lovely to handle.  Hannelore's high standard of workmanship and skills have combined to infuse these bears with qualities normally associated with vintage bears and they are well worth a careful look.  Hannelore only makes about 5 bears a month and spends at least 2-3 days working on each classic style bear to ensure that they are perfect. 

In the case of her realistic bears for which she has received many award nominations as well as first and second places, she invests much more time in each piece - sometimes up to 2 weeks to perfect the finish.  Her tableaux of female polar bear and cub was awarded first place in the Golden Teddy Awards 2007.

Continuing with the theme of using vintage fabrics, Hannelore has created another exclusive collection of aged bears for Abracadabra using a combination of patterned and plain antique mohair together with new fabrics which she has hand coloured to achieve the affect that she wanted.

A note about the making of these bears - the vintage fabric has many holes and unusable parts and it takes a lot of skill to place the pattern pieces so that the pattern continues  across the seams when the bear is finished. Due to the nature of the pattern, each bear in the collection is absolutely unique.
