Mikki & Bob, the Llama

Mikki lives on a small farm in Ohio with her husband of over 30 years, four llamas, six cats and a dog.  After working as an illustrator and toy designer for over 20 years, Mikki retired to follow other interests.  Her wish to create soft sculptured animals led to the discovery of felting.  Mikki's sculpturing and art background allow her to give each creation its own personality.  She feels that animals are little people in fur coats.

N.B.  Felting is an age old folk craft where, using only un-carded wools and special, very sharp barbed needles, it is possible to create wonderful soft sculptured figures.  The use of patterns is almost unheard of and all you really need is to let your imagination run riot and allow your hands to work in harmony with the wool. 

Since first introducing Mikki's work through Abracadabra, she has successfully produced many special requests for our customers.  If you have a favourite pet and would like a felting made to order, please contact us with a photograph and we will arrange for a special commission on your behalf. The photo can be digital and attached to an email, or you can send us a photo through the post.

A general note about Mikki's animals - each piece has an internal wire armature which will allow you to gently alter the angle of the head or legs - this is what we mean when using the term "poseable" within the description.
